Sunday morning we got up bright and early and headed out to the airport. The kids were so excited about getting to ride on the airplane to Maryland! We had been talking to them about it for weeks now and Jayce had said several times that week that he just wanted to go to Maryland. I think that he was ready for everything to be normal again. Layne's mom went with us and so we had to park and take the bus to the airport. We had no issues with going through security and getting to our gate. Jayce was very excited to get on the plane! Both kids were so hyped up I was a little worried with how they were going to act on the plane. But they did AMAZING!!! It was not as good of a flight as planned....we were supposed to land in Washington DC around 2:30 and didn't end up landing until 6:00pm. It was crazy!!! DC had some really bad weather and so our plane got stuck in the holding pattern, but we were up there for way too long. So they sent us to Richmond, VA to refuel. The kids were really glad to get out of the plane for a little bit. They were going bonkers. Running up and down the hallway. We got a couple snacks and walked around for a little while. Then finally they allowed us to get back on the plane. When we got on they originally told us that the flight was going to be 1 1/2 hours, due to the bad weather in DC, but luckily the flight was only 30 minutes. Craziness! As we were leaving the plane, I had several people tell me how great my kids did on the plane. And I have to admit, they did do pretty awesome! Nana had brought each of them a goody bag with lots of fun things to do in it. They had stickers, colors, books, and lots of other fun stuff. It was a complete success. Once we finally landed and got our car, we headed to get some food. We hadn't eaten anything pretty much all day, so Nana and I were starving! We had brought the kids lunchables to eat on the plane and lots of snacks. But we were in need of some real food. :) We stopped for dinner at this little Italian Pizza place. It was pretty good and then we had our hour drive to Lexington Park, Maryland. It sure was nice to finally be out of the plane and out of the car.
