New Exersaucer

We have been wanting to get Jayce an exersaucer. We were waiting for Layne's sister to come back into town to buy one because she gets a discount at Target. So as we were waiting some friends of ours said that their daughter didn't use hers anymore and she would give us theirs. I couldn't believe that she was just going to give it to us. What a blessing!! So 0n Sunday they brought it to small group. Jayce LOVES it so much!!! He has been playing in one that Layne's mom has and one at the church. We decided to get him one for our house. He sat in it Monday morning for like 45 mintues. He even cried once when I took him out. Crazy kid! Here are some pictures of him in his new fun toy. Thanks Preece family for the awesome exersaucer!!!

Schlitterbahn Trip

Alright, everyone has been asking how our trip to Schlitterbahn was so here it is. We had a really good time!! It was fun, eventful and exhausting! We left Sunday for Austin where we stayed with Layne's cousin Lance and his wife Amy. They were so sweet to house all 9 of us! Lance is so good with his cousins--he pitched a tent in the backyard and camped outside with the two boys. What a trooper!! It was like 90 degrees outside at 10:00 at night. The guys started outside, but at about 4:30 or so they gave in to the heat and came inside with all the rest of us. The boys sure had a good time though. So the next morning we got up and get ready. We packed up all of our stuff and tried to make sure that we left their house in good condition. We headed out for New Braunfels to go to Schlitterbahn. We couldn't check in until 4:00 so we decided to take a pit-stop at the San Marcos Outlet Mall. After shopping for a couple hours we decided that we had enough. We were ready for some family fun.

Our condo at Schlitterbahn was nice. Two bedroom and one bathroom with a kitchen and living room. The place slept 8 and was plenty big for all of us. In the condo with us was Layne's parents, his sister and her husband and their three boys, Layne's grandma and of course Layne, myself and Jayce. We had two playpins for the babies and two blow-up beds for the older boys. After we got all settled in we headed out for the park. What fun did we have. We took the kids to the kid play area and they were wild. So much fun for them. We were having so much fun I forgot to bring my camera to that area. :( I am so bad...we did not get any pictures in the fun kid area. We spent the afternoon and early evening at the park. It was about 6:30 or so and we decided that it was time for dinner. We headed back to the condo and tried to get dinner ready. We decided to make things easy and order pizza for the evening. As we waited for the pizza, the two older boys went to the playground to play for a little while. About 3o minutes later or so we see Diane, Layne's mom running back to the condo with Colin the three year old in her arms. To our shock, we saw blood all over his head and back. Steph and I started freaking out! Colin was swinging and decided to be adventurous and let go while Pop (Layne's dad) was pushing him. He fell out of the swing and landed on the back of his head. We called the Schlitterbahn first-aid people and they came and cleaned up his head some, but they advised us to take him to the hospital. So that is what we did. Good thing that we decided to take him there because the cut was a lot deeper than we thought. Colin ended up having to get four staples in the back of his head. The doctor told him that he shouldn't go into the water, but that was not going to happen. This was our first day at the park and we had two more days to go. Someone suggested getting a swim cap for him to wear and that is just what we did. So after a very eventful night, we had a relaxing rest of the trip. Lots of time spent in the pool and riding on rides.

Weaning

Just before Jayce turned 5 months old he started to not want to nurse anymore. I was really getting frustrated with him and just did not know what to do. I was pumping all the time and when he would nurse I of course would let him. Then one day he refused to nurse ALL day. This continued for two days! I was sooo upset and could not believe that he didn't want me anymore. He did this for a couple days and I had to give in and give him some formula. Then just one day he nursed in the morning, but wouldn't nurse any other time during the day. I finally gave up and went with what he wanted. It just wasn't worth the battle anymore. So my 5 1/2 month old baby is now not nursing anymore :(

As I cried about it for a couple days, I then realized that I have to go back to work in less than a month. I am kinda thinking that God had something to do with it. I was worried about how I was going to nurse until I went to work and then all the sudden stop. I was a little freaked out and just didn't know how everything was going to work. Thank goodness God is so helpful and takes care of all our worries. I should have known that he would take care of me. He always does.

Day at Granny's

On Sunday we went over to Layne's grandma and grandpa's house. They are in their 80's and still going strong. We went over their to do some long needed work around the house and yard. While we were there we took some pictures of the two babies in their somewhat of matching outfits. I also caught a cute picture of Jayce and Colin. Colin was loving on his baby cousin. I sure love having my nephews here and love seeing how much they are growing up!!!

Fishin off the dock

While we were at the lake Pop and Uncle Layne took the two older boys fishing off the dock at the family lake house. Of course, the boys don't care where they fish or what they catch. The first night the boys caught fish like crazy. Each boy caught like 5 fish and then the second night it the fish must have caught on to what we were doing because they only caught a couple that night. It sure was fun to see the looks on the boys faces when they caught the fish. They were so excited to hook the fish, but when it came out they did not want to touch it. They also didn't want to put the worm on their hooks. They are boys from my own heart :) I enjoy fishing as long as I don't have to touch anything and as long as I am catching something. While the boys did some hardcore fishing, the girls and babies sat on the swing and enjoyed some time outside by the water.

Do they ever grow up?

On Saturday Layne and his two nephews played on the slip-n-slide. They had such a great time. It was so fun to watch Layne play with his nephews. I guess the saying is true that they never grow up. I sure miss having these two little boys around. They are so sweet and fun to be around and they LOVE their Uncle Layne!!!!! I can't wait to watch Layne playing like that with our little boy. He sure is going to love his daddy. I am a very lucky wife, mommy and aunt.

Our week at the lake

This past week we spent the week at the lake having some fun. We went boating, played on the slip-n-slide, fished and enjoyed some good company. Layne's sister came in town with her three boys and we got to see them. They live in North Carolina and we don't get to see them very often. While we were at the lake Layne taught Dylan, our 6 year old nephew, how to wakeboard. We also got Dylan to ski with trainer skiis. It was a lot of fun. Layne also got to teach his "big" sister how to wakeboard. We also got to hang out with our three year old nephew Colin and our 5 month old nephew Noah. Him and Jayce are three weeks apart. We sure had a good time.

4th of July

On the 4th of July, Layne's parents have a parade in their neighborhood and we decided to have Jayce be a part of it. Layne's mom decorated a wagon that she has and we put Jayce in it with pillows around him so that he would not fall over. He is starting to sit up some, but not totally on his own. He was sooooo cute!!! The funniest part of it was that he kept eating his float. We put these flags on the side of the wagon and he kept pulling them off at putting them in his mouth. He didn't understand that it was part of his float and he wasn't supposed to do that. After the parade was over Jayce crashed in his float. It was pretty cute. It's hard being famous :)

Toe Sucker

Jayce has really found his feet and enjoys playing with his toes. Anytime his toes are available for sucking you will catch him doing just that. I wish I were that flexible.

Tummy Time

So Jayce's tummy time is starting to change a little bit. He is definitely starting to enjoy being on his tummy more, but he sure doesn't want to be on there for very long. Here's some video of him trying to put his legs underneath himself and scooting around some. The other morning he scooted himself all the way off his blanket and around some. Layne's aunt is a physical therapist and was trying to show him how to crawl. I told her that she needed to stop because I was NOT ready for him to even think to start crawling :)

Sitting up

Jayce is so silly. He won't roll over, but he has started sitting up by himself. He can roll over if he really really wanted to, but I think that he just doesn't ever want to. He would rather play like a big kid. He has always liked to sit up on the couch even when he was too little to sit there by himself. The other day my mom put him on the ground and he sat there by himself for quite a while. I was really shocked. So now we have been timing him to see how long he can sit there by himself. I think the longest is like almost 3 minutes. What I thought was even cooler was that he started to fall and pushed himself back up. Here are some pictures and one video of our little boy.

What a month!!

Whew!! I feel like the month of June was a huge blur. We were literally home for like only a week and a half the whole month of June. Layne worked three church camps and I went with him to two of them. I just couldn't handle going to all three. The last one I decided to stay at my parents house for the week. It sure was a fun and busy month, but we are SOOOOOO glad to be at home. Layne and I had planned on going on a vacation in August, but we have decided to forgo the vacation since we have been gone so much and get some furniture for the house. I am excited about that!!! The next few posts will catch you up on some fun things that have been going on.
