Bonfire

The past two years we have gone up to Layne's grandparents house, who have lots and lots of acres of land, and had a bonfire.  The kids think it's a lot of fun having a huge fire going.  We roast hotdogs, eat lots of chips, drink the beloved capri suns and sodas and then roast marshmallows.  This year, Layne's mom bought all the kids headlights so that they could see out in the dark.  Wow, was that a hit or what! They were running all over the property and playing hide and seek with the headlights on.  It was quite funny and somewhat entertaining.  I think that they grouped up and played in teams against each other.  It really helps that there are some older kids to help the younger ones out when playing games like that.  Last year we had some of Layne's extended family come out and enjoy the time with us and this year some more extended family came.  Layne's Uncle Clint and his kids came out to join the fun.  So we had a total of 7 kids out there running, playing hide-n-seek, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, and just enjoying each others company.  It wasn't too cold which was a plus too. The fire kept us warm, but it wasn't unbearable to be away from the fire either.  Best of both worlds.
