Our Cruise-Part 1

This past week Layne and I went on our first real vacation since we've been married. We went on a Honeymoon after we were married, but we didn't leave the country. So this was our first time to do anything like this. We had an awesome time!! The first day that we left it was really cloudy and cold!! It stayed cloudy and cold through Tuesday. Due to the weather the ship was extremely rocky. It felt like we were in a constant state of drunkenness. Very strange!! We never got sick, but it was hard to walk on the ship. The first day we were on the ship we met this really nice couple and ended up hanging out with them the entire week. They also got engaged on the ship which was pretty cool for us to experience that with them. Whitney and Rick are from Iowa and so it was neat to hang out with people from another state. They are in Physical Therapy school and are in between their clinical's. So they decided that this would be the best time to go on a vacation before they had to work in the real world :) I think on Tuesday they offered a wine tasting....so we took it. It was really neat. Then on Wednesday night we played bingo.....I just knew that we would win. BUT....we didn't.

Wednesday we spent the day in Progresso, Mexico. As we got off the ship we had to go through this one shop and then get on a bus to take us down the four mile pier. Once we got into Progresso, we were bombarded with shop owners. They were all over and trying to get us to buy their stuff. It was so overwhelming!!! I was not expecting that at all. We went hopped on a tour bus and toured the city. What a small city! And I was so shocked at how poor the city was. After that we decided to find a ride into Merida. We had heard that Merida had really good shopping. Anything was better than Progresso.....they wouldn't stop hoovering and asking us every second if we wanted to buy their stuff. Merida was beautiful and we got some really good stuff.
