This past Friday we spent the evening with Layne's family. Layne's grandpa turned 91 on June 1 and part of his bucket list was to fly a plane one more time. He was a Colonel in the Air Force and flew lots of planes. So he really wanted to do this at least one more time. Layne's dad and aunt have a friend who is a flight instructor and owns her own plane, so they asked her if she would fly with Papa (Layne's grandpa). She was very excited to do this for our family. Papa got to do everything he wanted. He did the take off, flew over Lake Conroe, his house in Montgomery and then when they came back he really wanted to do some touch and go's. She let him do that as well as land the plane himself. She was just there for precautions. It was so awesome for him!!! He was so excited, but didn't really want to show it to everyone. He brought with him his log book that had every flight he ever flew. The last time he flew was in 1960-something!!!! I can not believe that!!! How cool is it to be 91 years old and flying an airplane again!!! What a blessing! While we were there, we got to get some pics of the kids in the plane.
Jayce LOVES airplanes and so for him to be able to get in one and pretend to fly was awesome for him!
Papa talking to his flight instructor. Just going over all the stuff he wanted to do and telling all his plane stories.
