July Happenings...

Whew we have been busy!!! I've been trying to keep the kids busy with fun things to do while Layne's at work.  We are sometimes lucky and get to include Daddy on our fun little outings.  But so far this month we've done lots of neat things.  We got to go blackberry picking, the pool, Sharkfest, and to the Firestation.  I know that I've said it before, but the ladies that I've connected here with are amazing.  If I ever want to do something with someone I just either call someone up or make a request on facebook and someone will join me.  I've even got friends who don't have kids, but love kids who will come and do fun things with me so that I can have a little bit of help with the three kiddos.  It's great! They are true blessings! But anyways...here's some of what we've done so far this month.

The berry farm that we went to was fun.  It was at someone's house.  We just pulled up into their driveway, they showed us where the berries were and they showed us where to put our money when we were done.  We went with several of our friends.  We made it into a playdate outing.  So both Jayce and Ryleigh got  a container to put the blackberries in and off to picking they went.  I was really surprised when we were done that they didn't weigh our berries and collect our money.  They had a money jar and it was pretty much an honor system.  You just paid for however much you had and that was that.  I'm so excited for the fall and all the fun farms to go and do some more picking.

After our Friday morning playgroup, several of us cut out some spots and made the kids some impromptu cow costumes for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-a.  Their make-shift costumes got each of them a free kids meal! They loved that and I loved that it was FREE :)
Both kids also visited the dentist. This was Ryleigh's first time and Jayce's second.  But it had been so long since Jayce had been that it was pretty much like his first.  Now that we are settled and have found a good dentist, they will be going every six months so that we can make sure that they have healthy teeth.  Unfortunately, this trip we found out that both kids have molars with deep groves like me....so that means that they get food caught in them and they are very susceptible to cavities.  So Jayce has to go back in a couple months to fill his THREE cavities that have formed in his mouth. Ryleigh has the beginnings of one, so she is supposed to go back every three months for a fluoride treatment.  We do not have fluoride in our water here so that has been another downfall to them getting cavities.

One Saturday night we went up to LaPlata and watched the Maryland Blue Crabs.  It is our AA/AAA baseball team.  They aren't in either of those leagues, supposedly they are in their own league and don't have label for it.  But they do play the team from Sugarland.  :) They are in our league.  But that night they did not play them.  The kids had a blast.  We can't wait to go to another one.  They have a kids zone where they have bouncy houses, inflatable slides and a playground for the kids to play on.  They also have bumper boats on the other side of the field.  How fun and it was cheap to go to the game! :)

We have a small museum here near our house and it's called the Calvert Marine Museum.  It's pretty neat.  We had never been before and one Saturday they were having a thing called Sharkfest.  They had a few small sharks, but also had lots of shark activities for the kids.  It was fun and the kids enjoyed it.

Checking out the skates (which are like sting rays)
River Otters.  They thought those were awesome!
In line to see the sharks
Jayce took this picture of me and Brynna :) He was so proud!
 Check out this shark mouth!

One of the moms in our playgroup lives next door to one of the firefighters and he volunteered doing a fire saftety for all the kids.  It was such a great experience! The kids got to put on the fire fighter gear, meet fire fighters, ride in the fire trucks, spray the water from the fire hose, get a tour of all the different fire trucks that they have, get a tour of the fire station and then eat lunch in the fire station.  Jayce was so excited about it.  Ryleigh liked it too, but not as much as Jayce did. Brynna slept through most of it :)

Excited about getting to ride in the fire truck!!!
